First post: Bit-Man source of truth

The beginning. This is the very beginning for anything and everything. Real and figurative this is were it starts Bit-Man source of truth.

Blame it to the remembrance of old times, new tools findings, open source software or miriad of other factors but no matter what started to trace new personal journey where all of these combined made start my new site all free, with open standards and retaining technical control, which translates into :

  • Free hosting using Gitlab pages allowing use of a free account git repo to publish static content
  • Open standards are used behind the curtains to publish the site using static content generated through git (open source) to upload content into the site public repository (open content, published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License) which is converted to static html using Hugo open-source static site generator plus Blowfish site theme
  • Technical control retained using open standards (HTML, MD, etc) and using open source not only for this site but for a companion project that will allow using this site as source of all information generated by me to be distributed into its corresponding social network : posts to Mastodon, pictures to Instagram, etc. This is being constructed using Huginn a system for building agents that perform automated tasks for you online (open source, obviously!)

These guiding principles not only benefit me but also you as a reader/content consumer. You can follow me at each of my social networks but instead using an RSS feed reader to follow my news from this site. No intermediaries, no strings attached, single point to receive your news and some more of simplicity for you life

Maybe I lost you at this point but an RSS feed reader is a news aggregator that allows staying up to date with the news of all sites that most interest you (including this one 😉). In case you are interested on the whole RSS ecosystem take a look at this article. You can follow all content using the main RSS feed or by using the tags for the topics you are most interested. Let’s say that tech post are the ones you prefer then use https://www.bit-man.guru/tags/tech/index.xml as you RSS feed
