The Automation Club: Hello Fediverse!
Don’t you hate to install manually every single piece of code you need? Sometimes scratching our own itches has unexpected effects and sometimes the sweet spot you are located in has influence in others in the form of help. I hope this is the case
Some time ago I bought a Raspberry PI mainly to host all those minimal services used at home and to do some experience on creating new ones. What happened is that overusing the micro SSD left me with no machine at all (more on this in a future post) and had to start over from scratch and not only had to adapt everything again for this setup, and with not much spare time to do so it became a real struggle. This time I decided to automate every piece of install no matter what
The results is very interesting because is not only a bunch of scripts in a couple of repositories (very handy indeed) but that being able to solve some interesting problems offers much needed surplus bonuses :
- automate OS install
- setup a simple kubernetes service to easily add more hardware and expand the services to new machines … or even replace them with new hardware
- create new Docker distribution and tackle multi-image creation
